Crimean veteran at Sevastopol," Inverness Courier, May 3, 1910, p. 6e. "General Arbuthnot, a Crimean veteran, who has been visiting Sevastopol with his son, an officer in the Indian Army, received a most friendly welcome from the Russian officers in the garrison. The officers of the 50th Bielostok Regiment entertained him to lunch at their mess, those present including General Webel, commanding the Russian Division, and Colonel Liakhoff. The health of the visitors was proposed in the most cordial terms. Hearty cheers were given, and the regimental band played the British National Anthem. Colonel Liakhoff presented General Arbuthnot with a Bible found in the British trenches." |
