"The death occurred on Saturday at Boxley, Maidstone, of Major Best, aged 80. He served throughout the Crimean war with the 34th Regiment, being present at the siege of Sebastopol and the attack on the Redan. He also served in the Indian Mutiny, participating in the operations at Cawnpore and the capture of Lucknow."
