"The Services; death of a Crimean veteran," Inverness Courier, June 4, 1907, p. 7b. "Sergt. James Budge, who was 30 years in the army, died at Johnstone on Thursday. He served through the whole of the Crimean campaign, and took part in the quelling of the Indian Mutiny, being colour-sergeant of the 71st Highland Light Infantry. He was a native of Campbelltown, Inverness-shire, and was born in 1829. He held medals and clasps for the campaigns in which he fought."
