"Death of an old soldier," Inverness Courier, Dec. 5, 1902, p. 5a. "The funeral took place yesterday, to Tomnacross Burying-ground, of the late Mr Simon Fraser, army pensioner. He served in the 71st Highland Light Infantry, and took part in the Crimean campaign, having the medal and clasp for Sebastapol and the Turkish medal and good conduct medal. He took his discharge in 1869, and for the past twenty-three years he resided in Inverness. In the army Fraser bore an excellent character, and he was much respected by friends in the town. Deceased was over 70 years of age." |
