"Sudden Death of a Crimean Officer," Inverness Courier, Jan. 7, 1902, p. 5d.

"Major-General Joseph Godboy, Royal Artillery retired, died in Charing Cross Hospital, London, yesterday. He left Dorking in the morning for London, and was found unconscious on the arrival of the train at Charing Cross, succumbing a short time afterwards. Heart disease is believed to have been the cause of death. The deceased General served in the Crimean campaign, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol. He was in the trenches with the siege train, and took part in the bombardments of 6th and 17th receiving the medal with clasp, brevet of major, and Turkish medal."
