"Venerable Coadjutors of Florence Nightingale," Inverness Courier, Aug. 19, 1910, p. 7c-d.

"There are still living in London two venerable ladies who served with Florence Nightingale in the Crimea. They are nuns in the Hospital of St John and St Elisabeth, aged respectively 88 and 84, and are the proud wearers of the Royal Red Cross, bestowed on them by Queen Victoria. On her return from the war Sister Joseph, the elder of the two, was one of the founders of the hospital where she now resides and for fifteen years acted as its Superior. Last year, on the celebration of her diamond jubilee, she received the Papal benediction. It is interesting to note that the death has occurred at his residence at Camberley of Mr John Fineghan, a Crimean veteran, who acted as orderly to Miss Florence Nightingale, whom he predeceased by only so hour or two. For 23 years he was in the Royal Artillery, and was at different times in all three branches of that service. He was at Sebastopol and the attack on the Redan. An enthusiastic admirer of Miss Florence Nightingale, he often spoke of her kindness and goodness to the troops."
