"A link with the Crimea," Inverness Courier, June 29, 1906, p. 6c.

"The death has just occurred at Linlithgow of Mr David Mackenzie, draper, who formed a link with the Crimean war. He was one of a draft of the 92nd Highlanders sent out to the Crimea, but it so happened that peace was declared before the arrival of the transport. Instead of returning home, however, Mackenzie, with others, was dispatched to India. He afterwards obtained his discharge."
