"There has just died in the Isle of Wight Major Harry Macleod, who passed through all the ranks to a commission in the 93rd Sutherland Highlanders, and served with that regiment in the Crimea. He was present at the battle of Alma, Balaclava, expedition to Kertch and Yenekale, siege and fall of Sebastopol (medal, with three clasps) and Turkish medal), sailed with the colours for India, took part in the Mutiny, was present at the Relief of Lucknow (1858), battle of Cawnpore (December 1857), action at Seraighat, and engagement at Kuli Nuddee, siege and capture of Lucknow (1858), assault on Fort Rohya, engagement at Alleygimge and battle of Bareilly, also engagements at Mithowlie (medal, with two clasps), took part in the Umbeyla campaign (1863) (medal, with clasp), promoted Quartermaster, afterwards serving with 4th Battalion Scottish Rifles, and retiring with the hon. rank of Major." |
