"On Saturday the remains of Sergt. James Munro, Sebastopol Cottage, Tradespark, were interred in the Nairn Cemetery with military honours. Deceased, who was in his 77th year, enlisted in the Royal Artillery when he was about 17 years of age. He was sent to the East during the Crimean War, and had many thrilling experiences. He was engaged at the Battle of Inkerman and in the siege of Sebastopol. He held the Crimean Medal, with clasps for Inkerman and Sebastopol, the good conduct medal, and the Turkish Medal. After his resignation from the army he was engaged as drill instructor at Thurso, Glamorgan, and Portsoy."
