"Crimean veteran dies in Edinburgh," Inverness Courier, April 28, 1914, p. 6d.

"Another Crimean veteran, in the person of Mr Thomas Paul, late of the Black Watch, was on Sunday laid to rest in Piershill Cemetery, [by] the members of the Edinburgh Black Watch Association according to last honours to their old comrade. Mr Paul had the Crimean, Turkish and Indian Mutiny medals, and saw a great amount of hard fighting in his time. He served in the battles fought by the Highland Brigade under Sir Colin Campbell in the Crimea, and he saw many fierce engagements under the same commander during the mutiny."
