"Death of a 'Thin Red Line' Hero," Inverness Courier, Aug. 1, 1905, p. 4c. "The death has occurred in the Northern Infirmary of one of the few remaining heroes of the 'Thin Red Line'. The deceased, David Skinner, who was a native of Cromarty, enlisted as a young man in the 93rd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He went through the Crimean and Indian Mutiny campaigns. In the latter he was wounded in the leg. On retiring from active service with a pension, he settled down in Inverness." |
